Lichfield RUFC invite applicants for the role of Head Coach of Men’s Rugby.
This is to take over from the existing incumbent who is leaving the club due to a change of employment.
Lichfield Men’s First XV currently play in National Three Midlands and will be entering their third season at this level. We are an extremely well established club with excellent facilities who have two other senior Men’s teams, two Colts age groups and one of the largest Mini-Junior sections in the Midlands. The club also has a thriving Ladies section from which the 1st XV play in the highest level – the Ladies Premiership.
The position holder will be responsible to the Manager of Men’s Rugby, Derrick Squire, and to the Executive committee of the club, for delivering men’s rugby at the club, as well as supporting the other playing sections in the “one club” ethos.
Ideally, applicants will need to be:
Qualified to UKCC Level Three or in the process of completing this qualification. Exceptional candidates will be considered if they have completed level 2 and will be applying for Level 3 in the 2016-2017 cohort.
Have experience of coaching and/or playing in the RFU National Leagues (Levels 1-5).
Be well-organised and hard working.
Have a team ethic; displaying personal discipline, pride and selflessness.
Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with players, management and media on and off the pitch.
What you’ll do:
Be responsible for setting a playing philosophy and game plan which recognises the players and team strengths whilst developing their weaknesses.
Lead the planning and delivery of Tuesday and Thursday evening training, as well as, match day preparation and tactical intervention.
Continue to develop individual senior players while working with the colts and MJ coaches to nurture talented younger player’s, integrating them into the senior’s sides if appropriate.
Ensure all players and coaches receive clear, honest feedback and appraisal of their performance, this includes owning the video analysis of all 1st XV matches.
Create team standards consistent with the values of the game in consultation with the coaches, team managers, players and support volunteers.
Act as an ambassador for the club at all times, representing the club and men’s rugby with sponsors, the RFU, supporters, members and the media.
Depending upon the strength of the selected candidate there is potential for this role to be further expanded (either immediately or in an agreed timescale) so as to be defined and described as Director of Men’s Rugby. In such a case the revised role could be expected to also include the following responsibilities
Be responsible, either individually or via volunteers/staff, for all aspects of men’s rugby while working within the budget as set in conjunction with the Executive Committee.
Be responsible for the recruitment and management of additional coaches to support the delivery of coaching sessions and match day activities.
Ensure men’s rugby is compliant at all times with RFU rules and regulations.
Report regularly to the club Executive Committee on all matters relating to men’s rugby.

This vacancy is not a full time position although it requires a time commitment on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from the middle of June through to the end of the playing season, as well of course, Saturday’s during the playing season.
This is a paid position and remuneration will be in line with the level of rugby and experience of the applicant, this shall be discussed at interview.
